As part of the Biowaste EgJo Project, ESWMCE organized and led a technical field visit to the Sandoub Mechanical Biological Treatment (MBT) Facility in Dakahlia Governorate. The visit brought together international experts from Germany and Jordan, representatives of Dakahlia Governorate, ESWMCE specialists, and engineering students from Ain Shams University to exchange technical knowledge and gain practical insight into Egypt’s integrated waste management systems.
The visit included a detailed review of the facility’s sorting, material recovery, aerobic composting, and RDF production processes, as well as discussions on operational performance, waste treatment challenges, methane emission reduction, and resource recovery. The activity strengthened the connection between international expertise and local practice while supporting the Biowaste EgJo Project’s objectives of advancing knowledge exchange, capacity building, and sustainable biowaste management across Egypt and Jordan.
